What Is GLP-1 Weight Loss Therapy?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that have shown remarkable effectiveness for weight loss. Semaglutide and tirzepatide work by mimicking natural hormones your body produces after eating. They slow gastric emptying, reduce appetite, and help regulate blood sugar levels — leading to significant and sustained weight loss when combined with medical supervision.
At Vitality, GLP-1 therapy is not a standalone prescription. Every weight loss plan combines medication with monthly IV vitamin therapy, vitamin injections, physician monitoring, and body composition tracking. This integrated approach supports your metabolism, energy levels, and nutritional status during active weight loss — something no telehealth app or standalone prescription service can offer.

Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide
Two proven GLP-1 medications. Your physician will recommend the right one for your body and goals.
Semaglutide
Ozempic · WegovyTirzepatide
Mounjaro · ZepboundClinical data: SURMOUNT-5 phase 3b trial (NEJM 2024). Your physician will recommend the best option based on your health profile.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that targets one incretin hormone. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes under the brand name Ozempic, it was later approved for chronic weight management as Wegovy. In the SURMOUNT-5 head-to-head trial (NEJM 2024), patients on semaglutide achieved an average body weight reduction of approximately 13.7% over 72 weeks.
Tirzepatide is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist — meaning it targets two incretin hormones instead of one. Developed by Eli Lilly under the brand names Mounjaro (diabetes) and Zepbound (weight management), tirzepatide demonstrated an average body weight reduction of approximately 20.2% over 72 weeks in the same SURMOUNT-5 trial, outperforming semaglutide by roughly 6.5 percentage points.
Both medications are administered as a weekly subcutaneous injection and are available at Vitality by PACS as compounded formulations sourced from licensed 503A compounding pharmacies. Your prescribing physician at Vitality will evaluate your metabolic panel, thyroid function, medical history, and weight loss goals to determine which medication — semaglutide or tirzepatide — is the right fit for your body. Patients can start with either medication standalone on a monthly basis, or choose a bundled membership that adds IV therapy, vitamin injections, and enhanced physician support.
